Work Performed:

CDDI provided, surveying, geotechnical engineering and material testing services during the construction of the WMATA Station Improvement at King Street in Alexandria, Virginia. The improvement included a pedestrian tunnel, retaining wall and sidewalk.

CDDI supported the design build team by working closely with WMATA to provide a reliable quality control program, and was Responsible for geotechnical engineering, material testing and surveying services for this project.

Geotechnical and Material Testing Services:

• Earthwork/Foundations – Performed the necessary laboratory testing on materials proposed for use as fill, backfill and paving sub-grade in accordance with project specifications.
• Monitored placement of fill and backfill operations.
• Cast-In-Place concrete – Observed placement of reinforced steel to verify proper size, grade, spacing, cleanliness, length, location and type of splices to adhere to project specifications.

Provided the following concrete tests:

• slump
• air content
• unit weight
• temperature
• batch-to-replacement time
• and cast test cylinders

Surveying Services:

• Topographic Mapping
• 3–D Laser Scanning (Precision As-Built)
